As we come to the end of our 40-day devotionals, what a journey it has been as we have unpacked and reflected on the Easter story.

Have you ever wished you had known something beforehand? Maybe you’ve set out on a long drive only to be stuck in hours of traffic.

Psalm 24:7–10 declares: Lift up your heads, O you gates!

Some have said it is possible to be “so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

When we think about the Resurrection, we think Jesus rose from the dead

Romans 6:4-5 NLT “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.”  

1 Corinthians 15:54–57 (NLT) Vs. 54 – Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this scripture will be fulfilled:

What an awe-inspiring ending to the testimony of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection—His ascension!

To understand verse 16, I had to go back and read v5–10, back to the open tomb, where Jesus and the angel had told the women to tell the disciples where to find Him in Galilee. So back to v16, the 11 disciples went to the mountain in Galilee.

“John 20:24–29 (AMP): 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve [disciples], who was called Didymus (the twin), was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples kept telling him, “We have seen the Lord!”

“That evening, the disciples gathered together, and because they were afraid of reprisals from the Jewish leaders, they had locked the doors. But suddenly Jesus appeared among them and said, “Peace to you!”

The story of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, I believe, is one of the most touching resurrection stories in the Bible.

This part of Scripture shows us: Jesus draws near to us when we are troubled and want to be near Him…

The disciples had come to the empty tomb, examined it carefully, and found only the folded linen cloths…

Before the cross ever stood on Calvary, LOVE was already on the move! (John 3:16)

“When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others…

In Matthew 28:5–8 and Luke 24:1–8, the women went to Jesus’ tomb expecting to find His body.

They had come to tend to the dead…

Silent Saturday is a moment of waiting. Jesus has been crucified, and the world seems quiet, but behind the silence important things are unfolding.
