Day 39: Alpha and Omega – The Beginning and the End
Timothy Finch (Revelation 22:12–13)
Have you ever wished you had known something beforehand? Maybe you’ve set out on a long drive only to be stuck in hours of traffic. Maybe you watched a movie that turned out to be incredibly boring. Or perhaps you’ve looked back on a relationship or a job and thought, If only I had known.
We naturally crave information. We want to see all the pieces on the board before we make our move. We want to know the outcome before we take the next step.
But the Kingdom of God doesn’t work that way.
God often gives us just enough to take the next step. Sometimes He simply asks us to move forward based only on His word. In a world where information is instantly available, this can feel uncomfortable—even reckless. We like certainty because it makes us feel in control.
Yet faith was never meant to operate that way.
If we knew every detail, faith wouldn’t be required. Our desire for complete knowledge often comes from our need to control the outcome. But God doesn’t invite us to control the journey; He invites us to trust Him with it.
When I think about the apostle Paul and everything he endured—healings, shipwrecks, mass salvations, and imprisonment—I often wonder how he maintained such unwavering trust and peace. I believe it comes down to one simple truth: trusting who God is.
Last year I came to a deeper understanding of what it means that God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. If God truly is the beginning and the end, and He has placed me in this exact moment in time, then what do I really have to worry about? If I seek the One who already knows the outcome, I can trust Him with the process.
When we realise that God has accounted for every possibility, that He knows everything that has happened and everything that will happen, fear begins to lose its grip. We no longer need to know every detail because we can rest in the peace of knowing that He does.
Reflection
Are there areas of your life where you struggle to trust God without having all the details? Is there something God may be asking you to step into, but you’re waiting for more information before saying yes? Today, take a moment to release those things to Him. Surrender control and trust the One who is the Alpha and the Omega.
Give God your complete and unwavering yes.
