Day 38: King Of Glory

Joanne Elliott (Psalm 24:7–10)

Psalm 24:7–10 declares:
“Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts—He is the King of glory.”

As I reflected on this passage, I found myself thinking about the strength and majesty of our God. He is everything we need:
• Jehovah Jireh, our provider
• Jehovah Rapha, our healer
• Jehovah Nissi, our banner
• Jehovah Shalom, our peace

He is victorious in all things. Yet in our humanity, we often become overwhelmed by what’s happening around us. Our circumstances can distract us from the greatness of our God. We forget who He is, and our focus shifts to the very things weighing us down.

Instead of lifting our heads toward Jesus, we allow our gaze to fall.

But when life feels heavy, that is not the moment to look down. Those are the moments when we need to draw closer to Him—the King of glory. He is waiting for us to hand Him every burden so He can do what only He can do.

James 4:8 tells us, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Scripture often shows us that we take the first step toward Him, and then He moves on our behalf. Psalm 24 echoes this: Lift up your heads… and then the King of glory shall come in.

Our Father is waiting for you to lift your head, to turn your attention back to Him, so He can move powerfully in your life. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6, “Ask, and it will be given; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened.”

Never forget how great our King of glory is. The Father sent His only Son to die for us so we could be free from everything in this world that tries to pull us down. His power and His glory are beyond anything we could imagine—and He is waiting for you.

So this Easter, what will you choose?

Will you keep your head lowered, focused on your circumstances?
Or will you lift up your head and fix your eyes on the King of glory, the King above all kings?

Activation

Take a few quiet moments today to become aware of where your focus has been.

• What has been weighing on you recently?
• Where have you found yourself looking down instead of lifting your eyes to God?

Now, physically respond. If you can, lift your head, open your posture, and take a deep breath. Let this be a simple but powerful act of turning your attention back to Him.

Begin to speak truth over your situation:
“Lord, You are my provider, my healer, my peace, and my victory. I choose to lift my eyes to You—the King of glory.”

Take a moment to hand over every burden you’ve been carrying. Name them one by one, and intentionally give them to God.

Then ask:
“Holy Spirit, where are You moving in my life right now?”

Sit in His presence and allow Him to shift your perspective.
